    Half the nitrogen and all of the phosphorus and potassium go in as a basal dose at planting.

    Hand-weeding at 20 days after planting promotes early crop growth.

    The remaining half of the nitrogen is top-dressed at 30 days after planting, followed by earthing up.

    Tuber development

    Aphid numbers generally reach critical levels from the second week of January, so keep monitoring the crop.

    65 days after planting (seed crop)1

    Haulm cutting & harvest

    In BCKV trials for seed-tuber crops, haulm cutting at 65 days after planting gave more seed-size tubers than at 75 days and lowered the risk of aphid-borne virus. Harvest 10 days after haulm cutting.

Spot it, fix it

General symptoms that apply across crops. Confirm with a soil or leaf test before treating.2

Zinc

Upper leaves show interveinal chlorosis, eventually whitening. Leaves may be small and distorted, in a rosette form.

Growing points develop abnormally; the tips become stunted and die, and flowers and fruits may abort.

Common questions

How do I convert a per-katha dose to bigha or acre?

Multiply by 20 for a West Bengal bigha (1 bigha = 20 katha), or by about 60.5 for an acre. Every dose on this page already shows all three.
