Pineapple
Pineapple is West Bengal's leading fruit export from its northern districts. This program follows a proven schedule from planting through flowering to harvest.

Season schedule
What to apply, and when
Stage timing comes from agricultural-university research (cited). Doses are Urvar's own label doses, shown per katha with bigha and acre equivalents.
1 bigha = 20 katha (West Bengal) · 1 acre ≈ 60.5 katha

Planting
Healthy, disease-free suckers are treated with fungicide and planted in double rows: 25 cm between plants, 35 cm between rows, 90 cm between beds.

Enriched Vermicompost
Apply around root zone
30–35 kg per katha
600–700 kg per bigha · ≈ 1.8–2.1 t per acre
Label dose for Fruits (closest crop row)

Through the first year1
Vegetative growth
Manure and fertiliser are applied on a set schedule through the vegetative growth phase.

Humic Acid Liquid
Mix in 15–20 litres water per Katha
30–60 ml per katha
0.6–1.2 L per bigha · ≈ 1.8–3.6 L per acre
Label dose: foliar spray

Zinc EDTA 12%
Mix in 15–20 litres water per Katha
3–7 g per katha
60–140 g per bigha · ≈ 182–424 g per acre
Label dose: foliar spray

About 326 days after planting (cv. Mauritius)1
Flowering
In UBKV trials in northern West Bengal, Mauritius flowered earliest among the varieties tested — about 326 days after planting, with a 98% flowering rate.

PROM – Humic Based Flowering Booster
Apply 10–15 days before flowering (label timing for flowering crops)
2.5 kg per katha
50 kg per bigha · ≈ 151 kg per acre
Label dose for Fruits (closest crop row)

Boron EDTA
Mix in 15–20 litres water per Katha
2–4 g per katha
40–80 g per bigha · ≈ 121–242 g per acre
Label dose: foliar spray

About 109 days after flowering (cv. Mauritius)1
Fruit development & harvest
Mauritius needed the least time to mature among the varieties tested — about 109 days from flowering to harvest — with a good yield of 57.5 tonnes per hectare.

Spot it, fix it
General symptoms that apply across crops. Confirm with a soil or leaf test before treating.2
Growing points develop abnormally; the tips become stunted and die, and flowers and fruits may abort.

Upper leaves show interveinal chlorosis, eventually whitening. Leaves may be small and distorted, in a rosette form.

Growth is slow and stunted, and older leaves turn purple, especially on the underside.

Pineapple FAQ
Common questions
How do I convert a per-katha dose to bigha or acre?
Multiply by 20 for a West Bengal bigha (1 bigha = 20 katha), or by about 60.5 for an acre. Every dose on this page already shows all three.
Which Urvar products does the Pineapple program use?
Planting: Enriched Vermicompost. Vegetative growth: Humic Acid Liquid, Zinc EDTA 12%. Flowering: PROM – Humic Based Flowering Booster, Boron EDTA.
